In deciding what course to take in college, incoming students would usually contemplate on venturing in a course that could give them long-term benefits like better employment opportunities. Most educational institutions realize that there is a need to provide education that can equip students with the knowledge and skills that are needed to become both locally and globally competitive. Against this backdrop, a student’s choice of the right educational institution becomes imperative.
Jose Rizal University, the university that cares about good education, takes pride that it has been zealous in providing good education in a variety of fields. Aside from being associated as one of the universities known for traditional courses like commerce and accounting, it strives to develop new courses that could address the current demands of different industries, particularly technology related courses.
In support of the sprouting number of business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in the Philippines (e.g. call center industry), Jose Rizal University continuously ventures into developing courses and curriculum related to this field.
According to Dr. Vicente K. Fabella, JRU president, “The university is committed to continue developing its curriculum to produce quality graduates who can be competitive in their professions. That’s why we develop good quality courses in the field of Information Technology that are within reach.”
JRU offers dynamic and innovative courses in the field of technology. It is proud that it is able to offer a degree that provides the foundations for traditional courses and at the same time addresses the requirements for technological competence.
“Our Bachelor in Commercial Science has the most number of students. We’re proud of our BCS major in Computer Science as it gives a new twist to the traditional course by combining the philosophy and practice of the two fields” said Dr. Fabella.
The university also offers other computer courses that are more technical, like Computer Engineering that focuses on the hardware aspects of computer science, and Information Technology that delves more on the software side.
Aside from keeping abreast of technological developments, JRU has also become responsive of the needs of other industries. Recently, the university opened its B.S. Nursing course with the aim of meeting the high demand of education in the industry vis-à-vis the growing demand for health industry workers.
Even if the College of Nursing is considerably new, Dr. Fabella believes that JRU can be proud of the graduates the college has produced.
“We believe that JRU has been effective in honing graduates who are committed to the ideals of the nursing profession by providing adequate facilities, experiential learning resources, and skills to its students”
JRU has also opened a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management where demands for graduates are also at peak.
Dr. Vicente K. Fabella says, there’s no other school that can give various badges of honor, like the Level III accreditation, with the tuition fee that the university offers.
“The closest school to JRU with similar badges of honor has tuition that is twice as ours”, he added.
These new and strong courses of the university are proofs of its commitment to fulfill JRU’s mission and noble commitment of making quality education accessible to all because of the affordable tuition.
